Yvonne McKinney

Ms. Yvonne McKinney passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Yvonne was 77 years young. She was born on July 08, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan to Dwight Atwell McKinney Sr. and Ms. Carrie Lee Collins-McKinney, who both loved her dearly.

Yvonne was a lifetime resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She received her high school diploma from St. Joseph High School in 1966. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Saginaw Business Institute in 1970. She utilized her degree as a food service manager at KMart Department store for over 30 years in Saginaw, Michigan.

Yvonne was the matriarch of the Webber Street McKinney clan. She served as surrogate mother to all her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. There is not a family member who cannot boast of a specially knitted sweater or crochet afghan to keep them warm during the blistering winter months. There was always a seat at the table for a holiday meal. She was the original Uber driver, making sure we all got where we needed in one piece. She was the ultimate baby sitter and our original 911 operator. She also counseled us on many life situations with countless silent bailouts. Simply stated she was and is the rock of our family. The values she instilled in us will last us a lifetime.

Yvonne leaves to cherish loving memories her beloved son, Brian (Tabetha) McKinney, and grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Siblings, Bruce (Pam) McKinney, Reginald McKinney, Regimond (Shender) McKinney, all of Saginaw, Michigan. Gregory (Tracey) McKinney, Canton, Michigan, Helen (Ben) McKinney-Gorham, College Park, Georgia, Dr. Liska (Danny) McKinney Andu Daniels, Riverview, Florida, Anthony McKinney, Houston, Texas; she also leaves a truly special nephew/son Marquis McKinney of Saginaw, Michigan, and a brother-in-law, Martin William Grandmason. Her tribe is also filled with an abundance of special nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Yvonne McKinney was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dwight McKinney, Sr. and Carrie McKinney, her brothers, Dwight McKinney Jr., Robin Earl McKinney, PhD.; sisters, Karen McKinney, Sharon McKinney and Denise McKinney.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to everyone who assisted with Yvonne’s care. There is no phone call, meal or prayer that goes unappreciated. Special thank you to the Brothers of H. York Harrison Lodge No. 32 F&AM, P.H.A., Saginaw, Michigan, and the Paradise Funeral Chapel.

There will be a private memorial for family members.
