Mr. Willie Earl Roby passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at his residence. Age 68 years, surrounded by family. Willie, affectionately known as “CHUBBY,” was born in Sallis, Mississippi, on January 2nd, 1956, to Willie and Clara Roby.
The family later moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where he grew up and obtained his schooling. To know Willie “Chubby” was to know a man who stood on business, a stubborn, strong-willed man, who said what he meant and meant what he said. He was a fishing enthusiast; in other words, that man LOVED to fish.
Chubby always had a million-dollar plan, always ready for action, and never scared to take on new challenges or explore new opportunities. Willie had very strong values. His legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our own attitudes and how we live our lives. The family is deeply saddened by our sudden loss.
Willie is survived and missed by his daughter, Rose Keglar (DaShawn); his granddaughter, Kameri Harris; great-granddaughter, Kendyl Rose Harris. He is forever cherished and remembered by his six siblings and their families, James Roby, Robert Roby, Kinnie-Jean Craig (Maurice), Annie Mae Roby, Veneson Roby, and his baby sister Clairenet Roby; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Dale Lenoir and Charles Quarles. We will be forever grateful for the care you provided.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Clara Roby, and brother Johnnie Roby.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are at the outpouring of love and support the city has shown to the Roby family. We are truly blessed to know that he was loved by so many.
