In Loving Memory of William Douglas Ragland Jr
William Douglas Ragland Jr affectionately known as “Junior”, was born on March 9, 1960, in Saginaw, MI, to William Douglas Ragland Sr. and Adell McKnight- Jones and peacefully passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 66. William was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. His kindness, strength, and love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
William was a graduate of Buena Vista High School, class of 79. His work ethic began at 17, when he first worked at Pride & Country Grocery Store. William’s life was defined by hard work, compassion, and dedication to his family & friends. He was born and raised in Saginaw, then moved to Grand Rapids and spent many years traveling back and forth to maintain his lawn care service in both cities as well as checking on friends and family. While in Grand Rapids, he worked for over 20 years at Model Die & Mold and was last employed at Popeye’s and Texas Roadhouse, where he was the life of the party. Whether through his career, hobbies, or the time he spent with family and friends, he touched many lives with his generous heart and unwavering spirit.
William found joy in spending time with his family, cleaning, lawn care, and watching sports. He was an adamant Green Bay Packers fan. He was known for his outgoing personality and catchphrase “Pimping ain't easy, but somebody gotta do it.” His smile, laughter, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed.
William leaves to cherish his memory four children: Antione McCaskill, Marcus (Juanita Ligon) Coston, Sharnice (George) Ragland-Adams, and Brandi (Gregory) Williams-Horn; grandchildren: Kimmia McCaskill, Kameron McCaskill, and Jordan Moutry, all of Saginaw, MI. Martrell Coston, Martrez Coston, Shakera Rice, Symone Ligon, Shalonda Rice, Taylor Houston, of Grand Rapids, MI; Gia and Skye Adams, George Adams III, of Saginaw, MI. Gregory Horn Jr., August Williams, and Armoni Williams of Denton, TX; siblings, Wendell Ragland, Sabrina Ragland, and Zenobia Ragland. Jeff (Sharon) Hill, Michael Hill, and Tiffany Harry; nieces, Courtney Jones, Shana Jones, Shateria Robinson, Antionne Helton, Akia Ragland, and Felicia Ragland; nephews, Marquise Ragland, Keddrick Ragland, and Terris Robinson; many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memories.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William Douglas Ragland Sr, Glorious Ragland (Stepmother), Adell Jones, George Jones (Stepfather), Tamala Jones, and Zelda Ragland, and niece, Antionesha Helton.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he shared so freely. Junior will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
The family would like to express special thanks to Saginaw Family Clinic, Dr. Tariq Sabir, and the fourth-floor nurses at the MyMichigan Medical Center for their kindness and compassionate care.
