Mr. Walter James Hunt, Sr., age 86 of Saginaw, Michigan, was peacefully called home. After a brief illness, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Walter maintained his fighting spirit and his appreciation for his long life full of wonderful experiences.
Walter was born on February 10, 1939, in Utica, Mississippi, to Andrew and Eleese Wallace Hunt. Walter’s limited education did not stop him from pursuing his dreams. Walter spent his early years in Mayersville, Mississippi, where he met his wife, Josephine. Several years later, he relocated to Michigan, where he began his career at General Motors and met his second wife, Virginia.
Walter was hardworking and dedicated to his career. He worked as a machine operator and in various other positions for 31 years at General Motors before retirement. Walter accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was an active member of Truevine Baptist Church as a participant in the male choir until the pandemic. Walter loved to sing; he was the last surviving member of the group, the Gospel Tornados.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory six daughters and three sons, Walter Jr. (Susan) Hunt, Willie (Deleslie) Hunt, Jacquline (Mark) Martin, James Hunt, Sr., Janice (Eddie) Jones, Sylvia Hunt, Morris Hunt, Nicole Harris, and Ebony Hunt; three stepchildren, Jarvona Davis, Mona Davis, and Neco Jackson; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Leroy and Sidney Davis; one sister, Alberta Johnson; a host of nieces, nephew, and love ones.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Eleese Wallace Hunt, and ten of his siblings.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of HeathSource, Saginaw, and the Neighborhood Family and Friends during Dad’s time of need.
