Thelma Curry

April 5, 1950 — July 27, 2025

Saginaw

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away July 27, 2025, at Medilodge Grand Blanc, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, at the age of 75 years. Known to many, Ruth was born on April 5, 1950, in Picayune, Mississippi, to her parents, John C. Dukes and Thelma Robertson.

Ruth was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1968 and was an active member of Victorious Believers Ministries, where she enjoyed worshiping and praising God. In her leisure time, Ruth appreciated watching television, particularly her favorite shows such as Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, and Everyone Hates Chris, which brought her joy daily.

She cherished spending time with family and friends. Those who knew her admired her warm smile and contagious laughter, which lit up any room. Ruth also enjoyed being pampered and indulging in her favorite soul foods.

To cherish her memory, Ruth leaves two sons, Daniel Curry and David Curry Jr.; two daughters, Ameena Curry and Littshawn Curry; and a grandson, Antione V. Young. In addition to her immediate family, Ruth leaves behind a loving niece/sister, Francis Gipson, with whom she shared a sisterly relationship; her brother, Pastor Johnny Will Dukes, Jr.; goddaughter, Sabrina Gipson; her church family at Victorious Believers Ministries; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who held a special place in her heart.

Additionally, she was fondly remembered by her special nephew Johnny Will Dukes III, cousins Bobby Hudson, Bonita Robinson, Kathy Lewis, and her close friends, Dale Miller and Gregory Holmes, whom she affectionately called "Buddy."

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Curry Sr.; her father, John C. Dukes; her mother, Thelma Robertson Dukes; her sister, JoAnn Gipson; as well as four grandchildren. She leaves behind many loved ones, including a host of aunts and uncles.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all acts of kindness, including calls, cards, flowers, visits, and prayers, during this time of mourning. A special thank you to her caregivers—Tameka, Shar, and the staff at Covenant Healthcare 4th Floor in Saginaw, MI., Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI., Gladwin Rehabilitation Center in Gladwin, MI., and Saginaw Senior Care—whose dedicated care helped make Ruth's final days more comfortable. Your compassion and support have been truly appreciated and did not go unnoticed.
