Shirley Creasman

Mrs. Shirley H. Creasman passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 86 years. She  was born Sunday, March 31, 1940, in Richmond, Virginia. She was the eldest child and big sister to Phyllis (Hudson) Pajka, Maryanne (Hudson) Forrest, and John Hudson. Her happy childhood was full. Her parents started the Hudson Venetian Blind business and at night her mother was sewing matching outfits for all the children and taking care of the family. Shirley looked after her younger siblings while her parents worked to create a successful business. As Shirley became a teenager one thing became clear, she craved city life.

On a blind date set up by her cousin Cliff, Shirley brought a friend for Cliff and Cliff brought a smooth-talking fella named Wayne Creasman. They were married in 1961. After Wayne graduated college, he landed a job in New York City. They left Richmond and headed off to the big city. A few years later, Brandon Scott was born in New Jersey of course, the price of NYC housing being what it was. Eventually Wayne’s company moved them to Michigan. Allison Caryl was born shortly after. Everyone up north thought Shirley was the perfect Southern Belle and loved her southern accent. To which she would reply, “What accent?”

Shirley was an excellent homemaker, mother, wife and friend. Wayne travelled for work as a textile salesman and was out of town for a few days almost every week until he retired. This left Shirley to manage 2 children, their school and activities as well as the house, all by herself. She made it look easy and kept a beautiful home. She also had 3 grandchildren who she loved so dearly and gave her great joy, Isabella, Porter and Sydney. She was very active in several churches over the years and volunteered whenever she could. She led bible studies and was a teacher to many. She chaperoned hundreds of field trips. She was a cheerleading coach when the squad didn’t have a coach. She was a hall monitor at Troy Athens High School and a listening ear to so many people. Shirley loved a craft project. She was very creative and always had a new project in the works. She created gorgeous flower arrangements and wreaths. She also started a tote bag business where she sold personalized hand painted tote bags with family members’ names, ages, hobbies or whatever the customer wanted painted on the bag. This business went on for many years, and she even hired friends to help with the artwork.

Shirley loved to travel. She took a trip to Israel with her church and saw many different places in Europe and the UK with Wayne and her family. Shirley and Wayne left Michigan’s harsh winters for Scottsdale, Arizona after Wayne’s retirement.

Shirley loved the Lord. She was a student, teacher and devout follower of God. If you ever saw one of Shirley’s bibles, it had sticky notes sticking out, highlighter markings and her handwriting in the margins. Maybe a rubber band holding it all together, if she could find one big enough. She was loved so very much, and she will be deeply missed.
