Scott A. Hammond

Mr. Scott A. Hammond passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 69 years. He was born on Wednesday, August 22, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Lorna and Richard Hammond.

Scott was a lifelong resident of Lansing, Michigan. He was educated in the Lansing School District and was a graduate of J. W. Sexton High School. Scott was employed at the Lansing Board of Water & Light retiring after 34 years of services. He was an avid NASCAR fan; enjoyed fishing, campfires, boating and bean bag games at Lake Isabella.

Scott fought a long and courageous battle the last 3+ years with cancer.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Peggy Hammond; 2 stepchildren, Alicia Johnson and Troy Johnson; grandchildren, Callin Chaney, Kohlton Johnson, Klayton Johnson, Lenore Johnson, Karston Johnson, and Kashton Johnson; sister, Kathleen Reinke; niece, Jesi Hammond of Arizona; nephew, Rich Hammond of South Carolina; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Mark Hammond, Michael Hammond, and Steven Hammond; two nephews, Jarrod Hammond and D. J. Hammond.

His family would like to express thanks to Hospice of Lansing and the Karmanos staff that knew him. Thank you to all his friends and his Lansing Board of Water & Light family. He really appreciated all the cards, texts, and phone calls from the few that knew of his illness.

Rest in peace Scotty. You are loved and missed.
