Ms. Sandra Crook-Walker, also known as “Fatty,” went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 73 years. She was born an “Army Brat” on Saturday, November 8, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina; the daughter of Command Sergeant Major and 1960 Olympic boxing gold medalist, Edward Crook Jr., and beautiful Patricia Louise Burr.

Sandra accepted Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord. Sandra would start her day quoting the scripture, “This is the day the Lord has made, We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24. Sandra’s formative years were spent in Detroit, Michigan and later her family moved to Lansing, Michigan. She attended Lansing Public Schools, graduating from J.W. Sexton High School, a Big Red!

Sandra was full of joy and had a BIG personality. The life of the party. She was humorous and would often and easily bring laughter and a smile to one’s face. She was the sparkle of the Crook family. Sandra “kept it real” and was known to say what was on her mind. She loved her family. She was her children’s and great grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader! Often telling them to keep persevering. Sandra loved music. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and dance. She was very consistent in her ways of pouring out love and celebrating others. A loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend to all who knew her.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory, 2 children, Shanell (Anthony) Henry of Lansing, Michigan and Zina Crook of Snellville, Georgia; 8 grandchildren, Anthony (Jayla) Henry Jr, Tayveon (Kyra) Henry, Zahria Crook, Zanayia Crook, Jeremiah Henry, Zyaire Crook, Brina Edmonds and Braylon Edmonds; 5 great-grandchildren; Braylon, Kyren, Nyla, Londyn and Westyn; 2 sisters, Terri Crook and Alison Crook; brother, Edward Crook III; nieces, Tiann, Patricia, Ebony, Shala, Janae, Mikesha, Brandi, Brittani and Brianna; nephews, Chad, George, Sean, Jerry Jr and Brian; many great nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives including goddaughter; Felicia Curry and friends including special friends, Pamela DeMyers, Enda Fleming and Essie Curry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Brenda Crook and Melinda Crook; 2 brothers, Jerry Crook and Michael Crook, and nephew, Joseph Crook.
