Mr. Richard McZee was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on December 29, 1957 to Georgia Anne Thomas and Clarence Allen McZee. He departed this life into another life on May 7, 2023, at the age of 65 years.
Richard was married for several years to his beloved caring wife, Barbara McZee, until she departed. He attended Buena Vista High School and graduated from St. Joseph Adult Education in Saginaw, Michigan. Richard was employed at Buena Vista Fire Department as a truck driver. He was an entrepreneur and a local contractor who owned his own business working in remodeling houses, roofing, painting, handyman, etc. He enjoyed working with his hands on any home-building projects.
Richard was born again and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a family man who loved his wife, children, and his extended family. He loved sports. Richard enjoyed listening to old-school and gospel music. He was a faithful member of True Love Temple of Truth Church for many years under Pastor and Founder, Dr. F. B. Minor. Richard received his calling at an early age. Auntie began praying & anointing his hands. He exhibited a very unusual gift, the ability to learn music and play under the unction of the Holy Spirit. Richard began playing instantly. Everyone wanted him. He became the musician of True Love Temple of Truth Church and the Gospel Pearls Young Adult Choir.
Richard formed a family singing group consisting of himself and his sisters. He was multi-talented with his gospel music, making tapes, CDs, and writing his own music. He built his own recording studio in his home. He made & recorded 10 CDs. He played for several churches including St. Lukes Church of God in Christ, and Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where Richard also got a chance to play for the first Black female mayor of Saginaw, Michigan, Evangelist Wilma Ham McZee in the service and on W3 Soul City Radio station. Richard relocated to Peoria, Illinois, where he was a musician for the choir at Liberty United Love Ministries Church under Bishop John Wright, Pastor.
Richard leaves to cherish precious memories one daughter, First Lady Elect Latasha (Apostle Charles) Brown of Florida, and their children, Eric McKesy, Elexius McZee, and John Hunter; one son, Richard McZee, Jr., Bay City, Michigan, and his children Chancelore McZee, Gentavious Demers, Zachere Moore, and Illiano Banda; stepchildren, Della (Reginal)Brown, David Jenkins and Markita Watson; four brothers, Frederick Hurst “Skipper” of Germany, Minister Curtis (Evangelist Wilmer Ham) McZee, of Saginaw, his children Curtis McZee II, Lashunda Whitson, Michigan. Ronald McZee, Bay, City, Michigan, and his children, Ronald Jr., Taran, and Toron McZee, Tommie Thomas Jr., Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters, Gloria (Jeanne) Ross, Peoria, Illinois, and Sandra K. Davis and her son, Carl Jr., Saginaw, Michigan; a host of grandchildren, and great grandkids; cousins, Cora, Willie, Vincent, all Saginaw, Michigan; a very special cousin, Pastor Cederick Blakney; very special aunties, Betty (Pat) Blakney, Willie Mae Ballard, New York, Ruth Roberson, Grand Bay, Alabama, Clara Howard Stallworth “Peaches”, Mobile, Alabama; special niece, Jimeka L. McKandes; nephew, Jimmie D. Walker Jr., Peoria, Illinois. Richard will truly be missed by a special friend, Bishop John Wright of Liberty Love Ministries, his church family and friends who loved and adored him.

Madison and Anna Ellen Boose; two brothers, Clarence Allen, and Daryle McZee; uncles, Gene, Jack, Sercy Minor and Reverend F. B. Minor; aunts, Marylou, Nellie, Cora Thompson, Maybelle; cousins, Sonny Thompson and his mother and father; sister-in-law, many other relatives and friends.
