Reida Joyce Williams transitioned from her earthly labor to heavenly reward on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. She was born on Tuesday, July 13, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Bessie Phrazier Williams and John Irvin Williams. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, where she proudly participated in the Upward Bound program, laying the foundation for a life rooted in determination, strength, and pride.
In 1970, Reida met her lifelong companion, Riley Duncan, and from their loving union came three children, Martone (Clayton) Daniels, Latasha Williams, and Terrell Williams, who were the joy and purpose of her life.
In 1978, Reida began her career with General Motors Corporation, Fisher Body Division, where she worked diligently for three decades. She retired from General Motors Corporation (GM) in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, excellence, and perseverance.
Before and during her years at GM, Reida was active in sports. In the 1970s she played softball most notably for the popular Lansing team Juicy, and soon after found her lifelong sporting passion — bowling. Reida became a well-known and respected bowler in Lansing for more than three decades, serving as captain of multiple teams and consistently being featured in the Lansing State Journal for her achievements. She bowled with teams such as Capital City Women, Friday Night 2nd Shift, and Pro Bowlerettes, and most recently bowled with the Motor Shop Ladies. In 2019, she proudly competed in the Michigan State USBC Women’s Championship Tournament.
Bowling was more than a hobby — it was her joy, her passion, and a lifelong commitment that built community, friendship, and treasured memories.
During retirement, Reida continued to bowl and also dedicated herself lovingly as a caregiver to her mother until her mother's passing. She enjoyed quiet time with family, traveling, and sharing laughter and love with those closest to her.
Reida was fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren. She loved life deeply and lived it fully. Her loyalty, strength, laughter, and generosity touched many lives, and her presence will be missed beyond measure.
Reida is survived by her sons, Martone (Clayton) Daniels and Terrell Williams; beloved grandchildren Jakala, Alaya, Ayria, Tayana, Terrell Jr., Jasmine, Reida, Andrea, Martone, Rylea, and Kyngston, and many special grandchildren whom she loved and cherished; her siblings John, Michael (Shadron), Beverly (Billie), Roy (Roberta), Deborah, Barbara, Queen Esther, Stephen, and Stephanie. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends including special family friend Korine Ferden.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Latasha Williams; parents, Bessie Phrazier Williams and John Irvin Williams, and her lifelong companion, Riley Duncan.
