Pamela Jean Jones

May 17, 1951 — February 13, 2026

Saginaw

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Pamela Jean Jones. Pam, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Pam was born on May 17, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Willie E. and Eva Mae (McGlothian) Jones. She was baptized at an early age.

She graduated from Saginaw High School and Davenport University (formerly Saginaw Business Institute). She completed coursework in criminal justice at both Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University. Pam was an avid believer in education, receiving numerous certificates, including one as a lifestyle trainer and facilitator.

Pam held several jobs in Saginaw before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1984, where she worked for Arizona State University at the Tempe Campus as the executive secretary to the director of residence life. At the ASU West Campus (Glendale, Arizona), she was an administrative assistant to the vice provost of planning and budget and assistant vice provost of planning and construction.

After fifteen years, she returned to Saginaw to work and be near family. She worked for Ace American Alarm Company in Bridgeport as a dispatcher for seven years before retiring in 2015.

Pam was a cherished daughter, sister, and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met. She faced challenges with courage and grace, inspiring those around her.

She enjoyed her role as family historian. Her multi-dimensional interests included local history, Michigan interests, and world history. She was a thinker who had great pride in African American culture. She shared her love of books, music, and the arts with all, especially the elderly and young folks. She was very involved with her brothers-in-law's sociological books as a scholar.

Pam is survived by her sister Florene McGlothian-Taylor (Carl), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She will be missed by her lifelong friend, Rose McBride.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Willie E. Jones and Eva Mae Merritt; stepfather Douglas Alva Merritt; brother Willie James Jones; and sister Willie Mae (Jones) Laury; grandparents, Rev. Ernest J. and Willie Mae McGlothian

A private celebration of life for family and friends will be held later to share treasured memories; thus, Pam’s legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to each of you for your prayers, cards, phone calls, presence, love, flowers, and other expressions of concern you have shown during their time of bereavement. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed and was never needed more than now and has been greatly appreciated.
