CELEBRATION OF LIFE OF DONNIE EDWIN PULLEN
When Mr. Donnie Pullen walked into a room, laughter could be heard throughout. His smile was contagious, his presence was magnetic and his voice was soulful. Beneath all of this was a man of character. He earned respect by the way he treated others.
Donnie Edwin Pullen was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1948 in Dublin, Georgia to the proud parents Marvin and Lorene Pullen. The Pullen family moved to Lansing, Michigan in July of 1954. He enjoyed a lively household which was filled with love and a strong family bond of one brother and five sisters.
As a young man, Donnie served in the U.S Army with honor and dedication. After his military service, Donnie pursued his passion and amazing talent in painting and decorating, taking up an apprenticeship with the US government. His career as a painter and decorator was marked by craftsmanship which was a commitment to excellence. He believed in excellence, the value of hard work, and integrity. In 1980 he moved to South Florida and was employed by the City of Ft. Lauderdale as an apprenticeship painter and decorator for 30 years.
In 1981, Donnie married the love of his life, Glenda Bryant. The two became one for 45 years. This was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together they built a beautiful family raising four wonderful children, Cherelyn, Charron, Natalie and Nikita. Donnie’s legacy of love and kindness also lives in his four grandchildren: Rayna, Michael, Everiei and Riley who will carry forward the lessons and values he imparted.
Mr. Pullen was a man of many passions. Comfort for Donnie was the serenity of nature, the joy in fishing, hunting, sports, dancing, singing, and playing the piano. He was also known for his friendly demeanor and warm smile. Donnie Edwin Pullen will be missed and remembered as a man with a friendly demeanor that has touched the hearts of many.
Mr. Donnie Pullen is preceded in his homegoing by his parents, Marvin P. and Lorene Pullen, and his brother Marvin, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Glenda Pullen, children, Cherelyn (Michael) Dunlap, Charron Basey, Natalie (Xavier) Tharpe and Nikita Melvai. Donnie’s legacy of love and kindness also lives in his grandchildren: Rayna, Michael, Everiei and Riley, sisters Dorothy Evans, Peggy Whittington, Beverly Gilmore, Marinell White, and Marva Pullen all of Lansing, Michigan.
