Morie Smith

Mr. Morie Smith passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 67 years. Morie was born December 9, 1957, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Mattie Lee Smith and Ben B. Roberts.

Morie was a lifetime resident of Saginaw. He attended New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School. Morie retired after 22 years in various UAW Plants. Morie enjoyed playing baseball in his youth. He coached for over 30 years in the Saginaw Public Schools. Everyone knew him as Coach Smith. He then became a big fan of watching baseball, football, and basketball on TV.

Morie leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Deja Smith; four sons, Demetric Broaden, Morie Broaden, and Delon Rogers; stepmother, Annye Roberts; a host of grandchildren, nephews, and cousins; one sister, Iris Sprowl; two brothers, Cedric and Darrell Sprowl; a special niece, Tisha Smith, many other relatives and friends including special friends Montey Stewart, Chet Dorsey, and Marvell Harvey;

Morie was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Lee Smith and Ben Roberts, son, Donterrian Rogers, and his sister Toni Smith.
