Monica Hart

Monica Hart of Houghton Lake, Michigan, born January 1, 1950, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 3, 2025, in Lansing after her sudden battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Born with a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, Monica had a gift for making everyone she met feel welcome. She retired from the State of Michigan in 2002 after 31 years of dedicated service.

Monica had a love for finding a great bargain or deal, a trait that amused her family and friends. In 2024, she fulfilled her dream by moving to Houghton Lake, where she enjoyed tending her flower garden, taking leisurely golf cart rides, and spending sunny afternoons floating on her pontoon boat.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara (Joey) Draper; her son, Jud (Sara) Hart; her beloved granddaughters, Samantha and Zoe Hart; and her sister, Cindy Sass. She is also survived by her cousins, Kris Chandler and Kenda Karas, and her aunt, Vera Chandler in Florida.

Monica's warmth, humor, and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 4pm on February 20, 2026, at The Joseph E. Drolett Community Center at 7550 West Willow Hwy, Lansing.
