Mickie Johnson

Ms. Mickie Jean Johnson passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at University of Michigan Health - Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. Age 88 years. She was born on Tuesday, June 22, 1937, in Greenwood, Mississippi. The daughter of Henry Humes and Sammie Harris.

Mickie moved to Hayti, Missouri where she was raised and she was a graduate of Hayti Central High School. Years after Mickie and her family moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1977. Once they moved to Michigan, Mickie joined and was baptized in First United Methodist in 1988. She was a true homemaker and Foster Care Parent - she loved to take care of anyone she could. She loved to shop and get dressed up. She also loved to cook and bake. You could occasionally catch her on her porch outside enjoying the summer weather. She loved to travel and her favorite places to go were the Bahamas and Las Vegas.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory 3 daughters, Michelle Cannon, Angela (George) Baber, and Shantae Cannon; two sons, Frederick Cannon and Dansbly (Camile) Cannon; grandchildren, Travis Humes, Torsheka Ford, Chantone Humes, Demetrius Smith, Janell Jean-Pierre, LaRondrae Cannon, LaKendra Cannon, LaQuan Cannon, Bria Anderson, Madison Cannon, Raessa Cannon, Mohammad Cannon, Fatimah Cannon, Amir Cannon, Bradney Cannon, and Kimisstree Cannon; great grandchildren, Tatyana Smith, Deonate Smith, Derriah Ford, De'Jon Cobbins, Jordan Dotson, Elyasia Dotson, and Dacharra Smith, many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Anita, Cynthia, Vicky, Denida, and Pam; nephews, David Jr, Kimberly, Eric, and Karl; cousins, Hattie Mae, Fred, Joesphine, Faye, and Jake; many other relatives and friends.

Proceeded in death by children, Joycelyn (Jimmy Gorman) Humes-Gorman, Leroy Cannon, and Teresa Brooks; granddaughter, Chandra Smith; parents, Sammie Harris and Henry Humes; grandparent, Hattie Coleman; sister, Sammie B.; brothers, David (Doretha) Humes and Bob Humes.
