Michelle Elaine Strickler, affectionately known as Shelly, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the age of 65, at the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow in Lansing after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Monday, June 5, 1961, in Washington, D.C., Shelly was the only child of Paul Strickler and Carole Henney. She brought warmth, kindness, and a bright smile wherever she went. Shelly graduated from St. Johns High School in 1979 and spent many years working at AT&T and later as a receptionist at MSU Computer Store before her retirement.

At the age of 15, Shelly dedicated her life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, a faith she cherished throughout her life. For more than 50 years, she faithfully served alongside her mother, finding joy and purpose in her spiritual life and in the close friendships she formed within her congregations.

Shelly's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered as a gentle and positive person whose kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for others touched countless lives.

She had a deep love for the outdoors and found happiness in simple pleasures such as walking, swimming, and spending time in the sunshine. Among her favorite traditions were the annual August trips to Pentwater, Michigan, shared with her mother and dear friends. Shelly was also an avid reader with a remarkable memory and a keen eye for detail.

Those who knew Shelly take comfort in the hope she held dear. Her earthly struggle has ended, and she rests safely in God's memory, awaiting the fulfillment of His promise of a peaceful Paradise.

Shelly is survived by her loving mother, Carole Henney; her Uncle Phillip (Christine) Henney; cousins, Heidi (George) Gatzemeyer, Andrea (Thomas) Alec Dollins, and Daniel (Ruika) Henney. Along with a large circle of cherished friends who were blessed to be part of her spiritual family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Strickler; grandparents, Bryan & Grace Henney and Wilbur & Winona Strickler; aunt, Sharon (Dave) Gatzemeyer; uncle, Wesley (Marion) Henney; and cousin, Stephanie Ritch.

No funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and relatives who provided comfort, visits, cards, meals, and spiritual support throughout Shelly's illness and in the days following her passing. Their kindness and love have been a great source of strength and encouragement.
