Ms. Mary Louise Jackson received her eternal wings on Friday, January 30, 2026. Mary was born February 25, 1930, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late James Chambers and Sarah Lilly Chambers. She lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, service, and deep love for family and community.
Mary later relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where she became a devoted and faithful member of the former Greater Freewill Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend James L. Dorsey's leadership. Her love for the Lord and her church family was evident through her many years of service. She sang joyfully in the choir, served on the Trustee, Mother’s Board, Sunday School, and Mission departments, and was a cherished member of the congregation.
Mary retired after many years of dedicated service from St. Luke’s Hospital, now known as Covenant Cooper. She formed lifelong friendships during her career and took great joy in gathering monthly with her former coworkers. Their group, lovingly known as the Pearls of St. Luke’s, consisted of Laura Meldrum, Chris Jolin, Isabella Holmes, and Callie A. Abbott, and they met regularly to celebrate birthdays and fellowship, moments Mary truly treasured.
Known to many as Ms. Jackson, she was affectionately called Louise by those closest to her. She was admired for her warmth, strength, and gracious spirit.
Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Kenneth Alvin Jackson of Saginaw, Michigan; granddaughter, Ericka Louise (Greg) McDole of Grand Prairie, Texas; great-grandchildren, DeVante (Leaira) McDole of Hockley, Texas, DeVanise McDole of Grand Prairie, Texas, Gregory McDole Jr. of Duncanville, Texas and Gia McDole, Saginaw, Michigan; great-great-grandchildren, Alayah McDole, Luna McDole, Lorenzo Evans, Azephaniah Rodriguez-McDole, Alonzo Rodriguez-McDole, Amanté Rodriguez-McDole, and Mahiri McDole; siblings, Homer Chambers of Elyria, Ohio, Essie Mae Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, and Melvin Chambers of Merced, California, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends, including special friends Alberta Jackson, Leatrice Monroe, and Thelma Johnson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James Chambers and Sarah Lilly Chambers, and her brother, George Chambers.
