Mardett Sullivan (Lansing)

My precious mother, Mardett Sullivan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 87 years. She is the daughter of Norman Franklin and Josephine Watts and born on Saturday, June 26, 1937, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. 

Mardett graduated from Alexander High School in Brookhaven, Mississippi. After graduating she moved to Lansing, Michigan where married her high school sweetheart, Thomas E. Sullivan. He enlisted in the United States Military, earning the rank of sergeant. Thomas served and was killed in the Vietnam War in 1966. She worked in the health care industry at Roselawn Manor and retired after 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, watching NBA basketball and shopping. 

Mardett leaves to cherish her memory, her one and only loving daughter, Sandra Sullivan; niece, Cynthia Wilson; great nephews, Sidney Black II, Bryan Black, Purnell Black, and Tony Hudson; great nieces, Terriea Black-Nash, Tina Hill, and Phyllis Hudson. 

Mardett was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Sullivan; mother, Josephine Watts; father, Norman Franklin; brothers, Norman Franklin II and Joseph Franklin; sisters, Mildred Black and Edith Wilson. 

Mardett’s warmth, generosity and nurturing spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
