It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Magdalena Edward Dawin, who departed this life on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family with immense love.
A beautiful and devoted widow, Magdalena dedicated her life to nurturing her children and selflessly extending that same care to her nieces and nephews. She was the pillar of strength and love in our family, a gentle guide whose wisdom was always shared with kindness and patience. Soft-spoken by nature, she never needed to raise her voice to teach or correct; instead, her compassion and quiet strength spoke louder than words ever could.
Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. A devout Catholic, Magdalena lived out her beliefs with humility, grace, and service. She was the pioneering founder of the Sudanese Church and New Grace Choir in Lansing Michigan currently operating at Saint Luke Lutheran Church- Christ Campus, a spiritual home that continues to serve and unite the community she loved so deeply. Through her dedication to God and the Church, she left a legacy of faith that will continue to inspire generations.
Magdalena’s life was also a testament to her resilience and courage. She bravely battled cancer for 4 years, facing stage 4 with unshakable faith, dignity, and grace. Through every challenge, she remained steadfast, a true fighter whose strength inspired everyone who knew her.
Above all, Magdalena was a devoted mother and a loving presence whose warmth will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we are comforted by the promise of Scripture:“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
Magdalena’s legacy of love, strength, faith, and gentle spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her children, family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by 6 children, 8 grandchildren,1 great-grandchild, 21 nieces, 16 nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip Acwil Kulang.
