Mrs. Mae Ollie Wilson passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Center. Age 88 years. Mae Ollie was born September 13, 1937, in Calhoun City, Mississippi, to Etta Armstrong and Eddie Lee Gaston.
Mae Wilson was a magnificent wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend. Mae accepted Christ at an early age at Piney Grove C.M.E. Church. She married the love of her life, Archie Wilson, on August 5, 1955. After leaving the south and moving to Saginaw, Michigan, she joined Truevine Baptist Church. She was a faithful member for over forty years. There she sang in the Mass and Senior Choir for many years.
Mrs. Wilson enjoyed listening to her gospel music, watching old TV shows, making tea cakes, which everyone loved, and sharing stories about her life and our family history. She would always end her stories by saying “That Tickled Me,” as she chuckled to herself. She was so humorous. She made all of us laugh.
Mae Ollie leaves to cherish her memory six sons, McNally (Deidra) Wilson, Maxie (Gloria) Wilson, and Kevin Wilson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Ray (Saharah) Wilson, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Calvin Wilson, Houston, Texas, and Bernard (Shonda) Wilson, Rockford, Illinois; ten grand and great grandchildren; two sisters, Nora (Nathaniel) Wallace, and Dorothy (Samuel) Barnes, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mae Ollie was preceded in death by her husband Archie Wilson; son, Kenny Wilson; and her siblings, Clarence Lake Gaston, Mary Jean Gaston-Wofford, Dathrine Gaston-Slaughter, Willie Louise Gaston-Herrod, James Edward Gaston, William Lee Gaston, Rose Marie Gaston-Blue, Frances Louise Gaston-Russell; and parents, Eddie Lee and Etta Armstrong-Gaston.
