Lizzie Carruth

December 19, 1945 — April 19, 2026

Saginaw

Mrs. Lizzie Mae Carruth, our beloved wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, foster parent, and friend, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Lizzie was born on December 18, 1945, in Dorena, Missouri, to Luceain Sr. and Sibby Menzies.

Lizzie enjoyed a long career in the medical and nursing field before retiring. She was also a devoted foster parent who lovingly cared for many disabled children, some of whom she adopted and cared for throughout their lives. Lizzie loved hosting family gatherings in her famous rock-paved backyard, beautifully decorated with painted rocks and figurines that lined the pathway to family fun.

She was a pillar in her community, where she lived for many years, and many of her neighbors became like family and often joined in her gatherings. Lizzie truly loved seeing everyone come together and have a good time. Known as “The Boss,” she embraced her role as both big and little sister and will be deeply missed.

Lizzie leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Queen Ester Laster of Saginaw, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Menzies, Ivy Menzies, and Martha Ann, all of Saginaw, Michigan; four grandchildren, Terrer Donyea Menzies-McLeod of Pensacola, Florida, Paul Edward Menzies Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan, Devarious Dandre Menzies of Bay City, Michigan, and Silvannah Menzies of Silver Springs, Nevada. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ja’niya Shanice, A’leigha, Paul Edward III, Dominic J. McLeod, Carter Deshawn, Miracle Nicole, Devarious Dandre Jr., Devarion Tracy, Journey Chanel, and Amir Myking; as well as five step-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special acknowledgments to her cousin, Tommy; nephews Odell and Robert Menzies; nieces Savannah "Toosie", and Anna Patton; step-granddaughter, Michelle; and friends Sona Carruth, Odenia Carruth, and Rodrick Porter.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Carruth; her son, Paul Edward, Sr.; her parents, Luceain Sr. and Sibby Menzies; six brothers, Paul, Luceain Jr., Ernest, Roosevelt, Robert, and Bobby; four sisters, Maggie Mae, Geneva, Flora, and Nadine; and her two foster sons, Henry and Danny.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Covenant Healthcare, American Home Health and Hospice Care, and Carolyn for the compassionate care provided.
