Evangelist Linda D. King

October 14, 1949 — August 17, 2025

Lansing

With heavy hearts and grateful spirits, we invite you to join us in prayerful reflection on the life of Evangelist Linda Darnell King, age 75 years, of Lansing, Michigan, who was gently called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born Friday, October 14, 1949, in Mobile, Alabama, to Forrest Lee, Sr. and Jessie Mae (Glover) Lee.

A devout servant of Christ, Linda was a faithful member of God’s Worship Center Church (GWCC) in Lansing, under the leadership of Apostle Cedric W. Pruitt and his mother, Overseer Evangelist D. Pruitt. She joyfully shared the Gospel as an Evangelist as well as Missionary, through Sunday School, Bible Study and in the children’s ministries. Her love for the Lord was evident in every word she spoke and every act of kindness she gave. Previous to her membership at GWCC she served her longest membership at Solid Rock Full Gospel Baptist Church, faithfully for 20 years, under the leadership of the late Pastor James E. Carter, Sr. Linda faithfully enjoyed many duties such as President of the usher board, Trustee in the finance department, Teacher of children and some adult Sunday School and Bible study classes, as well an Intercessory Prayer Warrior.

Linda lived a life marked by strength as the Matriarch of the family through her generosity and unwavering faith. Linda was employed at General Motors Corporation before retiring after 23 years of service. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, always ready to give of herself to others. To know her was to experience her warm hospitality, her incredible cooking, her laughter and her deep care for people. Though firm in her convictions, she carried herself with grace, humor, and love. She especially treasured moments with her dear husband, Sam and their cherished friend and mentor, Mother Rachel Thompson.

Linda’s legacy of love continues through her devoted husband of 28 years, Samuel King; her three children Andrew (Dawn) Flint Jr. of Jackson, Michigan, Reverend Andre (Deborah) Flint, Sr. of East Lansing, Michigan, and Therena Flint of Lansing, Michigan; stepdaughter, Wendy Colston of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Tai’Risha Flint, Ciara Flint, Mathew Flint, Christopher (Omaima) Flint, Andre Flint, Jr., Debryhana Flint, Zyara Blair and Za’laeh De’ Jesus; nine great grandchildren, Braylon Major, Christopher Flint, Quincy Flint, Che’ Flint, Maliha Flint, Ibrahim Flint, Journie Flint, SaVior and Saudi Washington.
