Lewis Alvon Hoskins was born September 8, 1977, in Lansing, Michigan to Lewis J. and Gloria Raiford Hoskins.
Lewis, also called just Alvon by some family, attended Our Savior Lutheran School through the eighth grade; and graduated from J. W. Sexton High School in 1995.
Lewis worked in various sales positions for a number of years, proving very proficient in getting high sales numbers. Later, he was employed at Ryder Integrated Logistics in quality control. For some time, he had a desire to experience living in Texas; so, in October 2024 he moved lock, stock, and barrel to Fort Worth, Texas. In Fort Worth, he was again employed in quality control for Salcomp Manufacturing, which focused on advanced electronics and power solutions for energy companies. While at Salcomp, as well as at Ryder, Lewis was used by God to bring healing of bodies and spirits.
Lewis returned to Lansing in June of 2025 to resume medical treatment.
Lewis came to Christ about 15 years ago, actually in his apartment. He then went to Mount Hope Church to, as he says, "make it official" at the altar. He was later baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit, again in his apartment.
Lewis fell in love with the Word of God, devouring it as though it was his last meal. Mount Hope Church was a catapult for his spiritual growth, offering mentors, role models, and opportunities for service.
Lewis departed this earthly realm to be received by his heavenly Father early in the morning on June 16, 2026.
Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his parents Lewis J. and Gloria Raiford Hoskins; two sisters, Tammie Sankey and Joy Hoskins; niece, Shaquista Sankey; and great-nephew, Noah Jamar Sankey, all of Lansing, Michigan; uncles, Clyde Raiford of Bowling Green, Florida, Robert (Adrienne) Hoskins, and Mack Glover both of Lansing, Michigan; aunts, Helen Hoskins and Amanda Ussery of Lansing, Michigan, Lela (Kermit) Stanton and Loretta (Everett) Seaton of Shelby, Mississippi, and Clara Hoskins of Pensacola, Florida. There are many loving cousins and friends who also hold wonderful memories of Lewis Alvon. Also, YANIS, the special daughter of Gloria and Lewis.
Also cherishing his memory are special friends, Fran and Craig Lawson, Deanne Moore, and Patrick Whitney.
Lewis was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, John & Lessie Raiford and Pink & Lottie Hoskins.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
