Mr. Leon Pickett Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 69 years. He was born October 4, 1954, in Montgomery, Alabama, the youngest son of Willie Sr. and Maybelle Pickett.

Leon graduated from Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1972, and joined the Army where he was a kitchen supervisor and was on the boxing team. Leon received an Honorable Discharge in 1974 after serving his country for 2 years. He then became a student at Trenholm Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Leon moved to Saginaw, Michigan, in 1978, where he opened up his own TV repair business naming it Pickett & Son TV, with the logo "Don't Kick It. Call Pickett." Leon was a strong loving man of God and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on electronics, vehicles, homes, and whatever else someone would bring to his doorstep. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and who had a passion to help anyone in need.

Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his partner, Lori Simmons; daughter, ShaKeisha Voltz (Johnathan); sons, Deon (Kendra) Pickett, and Leontay Pickett of Saginaw, Michigan, Leondre Pickett of Bay City, Michigan, Leon Pickett Jr, of Nashville, Tennessee, Torion Pickett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Nero of Texas; daughter, Annicka, of Alabama; bonus children, Marcus, Jasmine, Roberta, James and Jadyn Simmons, all of Saginaw, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Pickett and Patricia Beard of Montgomery, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including special nephew, Artice Jones; and godbrother, Tim Holden Sr.

Leon Pickett Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Maybelle Pickett; son, Sir-Scythian Vance; great-granddaughter, Davena Hinton; sisters, Georgia Lee Holden, Malinda Pettus, and Junita Frazier; brothers, Alfronso Pickett, Thomas Johnson, and Willie Pickett Jr; and special friend, Richard "Mr. Dick" Newman.

The family would like to express thanks to the Veterans Administration staff in Saginaw and Ann Arbor, and University of Michigan Hospital healthcare workers, everyone who prayed for us or sent an expression of love, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
