Lawrence Person

Lawrence Henry Owen Person, born April 27, 1997, in Lansing, Michigan. Passed away on March 26, 2026. He was born to Liza Person, Lawrence Vanburen, and pops, Zakee Stevenson.

Lawrence attended and graduated from Nebraska High School, where he was a talented athlete in football, basketball, and swimming. He went on to receive a basketball scholarship to Michigan State University. Lawrence also had a deep love for music. He was known for his bright smile that could light up any room and for the love he had for his family and friends. He had a heart of gold and deeply loved his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins without judgement, always showing care and acceptance towards others. He was a true friend, someone you could call on for anything, someone who always showed up for the people he cared about.

He is survived by his daughter, Ivy Marie Garret; mother, Liza Person; father, Lawrence Vanburen; pops, Zakee Stevenson; siblings, Treavion Person, Shavontae Person, Octavious Person, Sanieha Person, Jarron Brown, Jarrell Brown, Jabron Brown, and Jamyra Brown grandmothers, Rosie Austin and Diane Haythem; godmother, Lawana (James) Wilson; aunts, Mary (Dawoud) Stevenson, Elizabeth Person, Sandra (Michael) Jackson, Lavina (Timothy) Clark, Angie Sparks; uncles, Henry (Heather) Person, TJ (Emily) Person, James Brown, Christopher Hayes, Robert (Brenda) Brown, and Auther Brown; as well as many cousins and friends.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Louise Elizabeth Creller Person (Nina); maternal and paternal grandfathers, Henry Louis Person Sr. and Onie Austin; and cousin LeeAnn Louise Hawkins.
