Obituary

Latrece Shanna Harper was born on July 23, 1992, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Eric Harper and Shaunta Dozier. Latrece went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025. Latrece Harper was raised in Saginaw, Michigan by her grandparents, Pertis and Mattie Harper, and her aunt Yolonda Harper. Latrece accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age and as a child, she was a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. She was involved in many ministries in the church, such as the Sunshine choir, the Starlight choir, the Youth Usher board, holiday plays, and event programs at the church.

Later, as a teenager, Latrece moved to Pontiac, Michigan, with her mother. She graduated and received her high school diploma from Pontiac High School. On June 5, 2011, Latrece became a member of Burning Bush Apostolic Ministries under Pastor Richard Schofield. She participated in the Youth and Women’s Ministries. She would also invite various people to visit her church on many occasions.

Latrece was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord. She was a devoted servant of the Lord, known for her steadfast worship and constant praise. Her unwavering faith shaped her life and the lives of her children in whom she carefully instilled her deep love for God.

Latrece had a big, beautiful smile that would brighten up the room. She had an infectious laugh that would ripple through a room and bring smiles to everyone’s face. Latrece was always happy. She had a bubbly personality. She was a caring and loving person who would do anything for the people she loved.

Latrece was an amazing mother to her five beautiful children. They are all well-mannered, and she took great care of them. One of Latrece’s favorite things to do was keep her daughters’ hair done. Her children were her everything; she would do anything for them. When it came to birthdays, she would always go above and beyond, especially on birthday cakes. Latrece loved ordering big, nice cakes for her children and her grandparents’ birthdays. Everyone knew when they saw a tutu and bows, it was one of Latrece’s daughters' birthday. She was a present mother. She supported her children in all their extracurricular activities such as football, dance, gymnastics, and her oldest son’s lawn care business, landscaping, and home remodeling. Her children were her greatest joy, and each one carries a part of her—her smile, her laughter, her personality, her faith—living reminders of the beautiful soul she shared with the world. Each one of her children are a beautiful reflection of her.

Latrece loved her job at Autumn House Bloomfield Hills where she worked as a housekeeper. She was a dedicated and hard worker. She built a close bond with all her residents. She was always there to celebrate their birthdays with them. Latrece found joy in making her residents feel cherished and valued. Her supervisor and coworkers loved Latrece’s joyful spirit and caring heart.

Her memory will be cherished by her five beautiful children, Treveyon Harper, Kadari Day Jr., Malaysia Noel, Alaya Noel, and Nevaeh Noel; her father, Eric Harper of Saginaw, Michigan; step-mother, Ernestine Jones, of Saginaw, Michigan; paternal grandparents, Pertis and Mattie Harper, of Saginaw, Michigan; and her maternal grandmother, Rosemary Dozier, of Houston, Texas.  Latrece will be greatly missed by her sisters: twin sister Latorya Harper and Shanikqa Jones of Saginaw, Michigan, Moncharae Evans of Houston, Texas, Keosha Hamilton of Nashville, Tennessee, and her step-sister, Satora Jones of Saginaw, Michigan; her brothers: Eric (Maya) Harper of Grand Prairie, Texas, Tremain Harper of Lansing, Michigan, Tarvarious Jones and Emarious O’Neal of Saginaw, Michigan, Liglynn Evans of Pontiac, Michigan, Antine Henton of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her step-brother, Anthony Jones of Saginaw, Michigan; a host of nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; her godchildren; and her godmother, Gloria Abraham-Edwards.

Latrece was preceded in death by her mother, Shaunta Dozier, and her brother, Isiah Johnson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to each and every person who has sent love, prayers, and donations to Latrece’s five children. Also, special thanks to Latrece’s supervisor, Sheila Braggs, Executive Director at Autumn House Bloomfield Hills, her coworkers, and residents, and Ivan E.
