Larry E. Smith was born on October 2, 1950, in Batesville, MS, and transitioned peacefully into rest on March 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. The fourth of seven children born to Professor F.R. and Beulah Lloyd-Smith. Larry was known for his warm and unwavering support of his family.

Larry was baptized at an early age and joined the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Crenshaw, MS, where he sang in the choir and was active in Sunday school.

In 1969, he graduated from North Panola Vocational High School in Como, MS, marking the beginning of a life filled with dedication, love, and adventure. Larry carried the values of hard work and perseverance throughout his life. He had a special love for children, particularly his nieces and nephews. Whom he cherished deeply.

In 1970, Larry proudly joined the United States Army, serving faithfully for two years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1972. His commitment to service reflected his strong sense of duty and patriotism.

Larry was also passionate about cars and trucks, a hobby that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his enthusiasm. His love for vehicles was a testament to his adventurous spirit and appreciation for travel.

He leaves to celebrate his life one daughter, Laura Smith of Ypsilanti MI; four grandchildren, Jasmine Colier, Dominique Colier, Gerard Newcom and Jessica Newsom all of Saginaw MI; four great-grandchildren, Daniel and Dominick Cazatous, Jaliena Colier, and Cianna Garcia all of Saginaw, MI; three sisters, Lavon Wilson, Memphis, TN, Freddie (Dean) Simpson and Shirley (Derrick) Presley, both of Saginaw MI; three brothers, Willie R. Smith, Carrolton MS, Lloyd Smith, Memphis, TN and Clinton Smith, Carson City, MI; a host of nieces and nephews.

Larry will be remembered for his kindness, his love for family, and his zest for life. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a family that will continue to honor his spirit.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Professor Fred R. and Beulah Smith, and a niece, Monica Smith.
