Kimberly Riojas

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly JeanRiojas, a devoted wife, cherished mother, treasured grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend, on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on August 19, 1962, in Lansing, Michigan, Kimberly lived a life full of compassion, strength, and grace. She dedicated herself to her family and always put the needs of her family and others before her own. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love, where everyone felt welcomed.

Kimberly, who was the heart of her family, was the beloved wife of Tomas Riojas, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and many joyful memories. She was a devoted and nurturing mother to Nadia (David) Riojas, Lydia (Derek) Long, Angelita (Raymond) Villegas III, and Andrea Martinez. She was the most loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Chelsey (Eduardo) Serna, Tomas Riojas, Antonio (Sofia) Lira-Riojas, Michael (Lexi) Lira-Riojas, Elyssa Riojas, Kayleigh (Cody) Arens, Aliyah Villegas, Ellory Riojas, Benicio Lira, Raymond Villegas IV, Lilliana Villegas, and many great grandchildren whom she loved so much. Kimberly’s greatest joy was her family.

Kimberly also leaves behind her brother; Johnny (Robin) Murray; sister, Tina Guijosa; and youngest brother, William Peterson. She will be deeply missed by her sister in life and best friend Anne Smith. Her kindness extended beyond her family as she was known to many simply as Grandma Kimmy or “Gma”.

Kimberly was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Negake and Mary Lou Peterson; brother, Martin Murray; twin sister, Judith Lewis; youngest sister, Billie Jo Peterson; and the son she never had and adopted, Michael Benjamin Peterson.

Though she is no longer with us, she will be deeply missed by so many. Her love will always be with us, her memories will always be cherished, we will love you forever until we see you again; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.
