Kathaleen Mask

April 29, 1959 — July 2, 2026

Saginaw

Our beloved Kathaleen “Kathy” Mask went home to be with God on July 2, 2026. Kathy was born in Houston, TX, on April 29, 1959, to Dorthy Jean Wilson and Azzie Arnick Jr. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother whom many people were magnetically drawn to.

Kathy will always be remembered for her creative flair, outstanding cooking skills, and a special type of "spicy" personality. As a teen, she began designing her own clothes from newspaper patterns and was always known as stylish and trendsetting. Kathy was effortlessly intelligent and had a special knack for numbers. She graduated from Kashmere Senior High School in 1976 with honors. As her sisters characterized it, "Kathy never had to study, and she would get all A’s with ease." Kathy is one of seven children, and her siblings described Kathy as fiercely protective but equally as affectionate.

Kathy relocated to Saginaw, MI, in 1985 and began attending Saginaw Valley State University. Her son, Duriel Sr, would go on to receive his bachelor's degree and become a track star at SVSU years later. Nothing in the world meant more to Kathy than her sons and her family. Ivan, Duriel Sr, Montrel, and Sterling were her proudest achievements, and she loved all of them with her whole heart. There was nothing "Lady K" (her favorite nickname) wouldn't have done for her boys, and her loving presence will be truly missed.

Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Ivan (Miranda) Mask, Duriel Mask Sr., Montrel Franklin and Sterling Pierson all of Saginaw, MI; siblings, Anthony "Pookie" (Lilie) Roberson, Dr. Velma "Bell" (Lynn) Gibbs, Glenda "Renee" (Cornelius) Ita,, Jimmy "Bubby" (Rosondra) Wilson, Jr. and Lisa Wilson all of Houston, TX ; aunt Willie Mae Drain, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Alexus Santos, Duriel Mask Jr. and Ki'Shona Mask; great grandson, Larry Ray III, and many other relatives and close friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthy Jean Wilson, her soul mate and companion, Richard Franklin, her brother, Keith Wilson, and close relatives Eloise "Cookie" Jernigan, Katherine Whitfield, and Willeaner Robertson.
