Mr. Johnny Hamilton passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos, Michigan. Age 89 years. He was born Wednesday, April 24, 1935, the son of Melree and Peggie Hamilton in Columbus, Arkansas.
Johnny worked for General Motors Corporation for over 36 years before retiring. He was a Deacon at New Life Full Gospel Church in Saginaw, Michigan for 5 years before moving to Lansing, Michigan. In his spare time, Johnny was a self-made carpenter and plumber. He loved to work with his hands. Johnny’s family was able to trace and prove that they are descendants of President Thomas Jefferson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mae Cooper Hamilton; stepchildren, Dejuan Everett and Zapora Everett; grandchildren, Rodney Jones, Jr., Kiara Everett, Malik Everett, Amai Everett, Sofia Everett, Makayla Everett, and Kaiyha Everett; great grandchildren, Kayci Jones and Jaxson Everett; sister, Saundra Hamilton; 3 brothers, James (Carol) Hamilton, Jerry Hamilton and JR Hamilton; many nieces, nephews including special nephews Duane Grigsby, Larry Grigsby and Kevin Hamilton; brother-in-law, Bennie (Shirley) Cooper; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melree and Peggie Hamilton; grandparent, Gertude Jefferson-Cole; sisters, Mayjuil Hamilton and Melrosia Grigsby; and brother, Napoleon Lee Hamilton.
