Johnnie Ballard

Mr. Johnnie Ballard passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at University of Michigan Health - Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. Age 74 years. He was born Tuesday, June 19, 1953, to Lucie and Joe Ballard in Mobile, Alabama. He moved to Lansing in 1970s.

Johnnie had the heart of gold and extended himself and his home to anyone in need of help and/or shelter. He volunteered at all shelters and missions, Cristo Rey, Advent House and anywhere else help was needed.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Lucie and Joe Ballard, sister, Dorothy Prince; brother-in-love, Neal Prince; and nephew, Alphonse Bernard Prince.

Johnnie leaves to cherish his memories, sister, Joann Prince; sons, Johnnie Ballard Jr. and Christopher Ballard; daughter, Sharon Ballard; stepson, Deon Gardner; nephews, Michael Prince and Raymond Prince; nieces, Doris Prince, Ruth Ann Flantoil and Angie Bledsoe; significant other, Sherriee Hinton; daughters, Olympia and Michelle; son, Michael; granddaughter, Asia (Be-Be); grandson Mario; many other relatives and friends.

The memories we have of Johnnie will always be near and dear to our hearts. Although we mourn his passing, we rejoice for the personal relationship he had with God and take comfort in knowing that he has no more pain and is resting peacefully in the arms of God.
