Jesse Jackson (Lansing)

Mr. Jesse James Jackson, Sr. passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 77 years. He was born March 9, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The son of Willie T. and L.B. Price Jackson.

Jesse was a resident of Lansing, Michigan and he retired from Thompson McCully Construction. Jesse earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work pending Thesis at Spring Arbor College. He loved his family as well as doing activities such as basketball, golfing, taking long walks, and traveling. One of his most memorable trips was hiking the Rocky Mountains with some of his friends.  

He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Annie Ruth Jackson of St. Augustine, Florida; children, Jesse J. Jackson, Jr., Zoe C.M. Jackson, and Maranda M. Jackson; grandchildren, Jessica L.B. Swint-Jackson, Charnae “Champagne” Swint, Kalondra L.N. Jackson, Jamina E.C. Jackson, PasChantaye “Juicy” Gutierrez-Jackson, Alicia C. Jackson, Jamelia B. Jackson, Jesse J. Jackson III, Jeannivieve J. Jackson, Jaybri’el T. Jackson, Zayden “Hotsauce” Nettles, Shantanique Swint, Arianna Swint-Cook, Adara Swint-Cook, Darren Cook, Jr., David V. Armstrong, and Francisco G. Armstrong; great-grandchildren, I’Annah Jackson, Demacio Jackson, Xavier Jackson, A’Cyn Jackson, Ava Jackson, Catherine M’Latamou, Zayne Jackson, Armonee Gutierrez, Ace Vazquez, Aubrielle Swint-White, Demetrius Austin, Alixandria Austin, Kai’Von Austin, Samir Swint-Cook, and Kai’Lon Swint-Cook; sister, Genevieve Hodges of St. Louis, Missouri; 15 great nieces; 23 great nephews; many cousins of the Price family; sisters-in-law, Emma Jackson, Odell Mastin, Marie Stewart, Sandra Mastin, and Gladys Mastin; and special friends that know who they are.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Willie T. Jackson; brother, Teddy Jackson; 6 brothers-in-law; and 6 sisters-in-law.
