Mr. Jesse Ray Amos, affectionately known as “Jake,” answered the heavenly roll call on April 2, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on a bright spring day, April 18, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jesse was the eighth of twelve children born to Bertha and Isaac Smith.
Jesse attended elementary school in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. He later graduated from the historical Brown High School in Springhill, Louisiana. After completing his education, Jesse enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably and received an honorable discharge.
Jesse met and married Betty Epps. Their union lasted forty-six years and was blessed with three sons: Victor, Patrick, and Nicholas Amos. He was a loving husband and devoted family man.
Jesse relocated his family from Louisiana to Saginaw, Michigan in 1967, seeking new opportunities and a fresh start.
