Jeffrey Marc Austin, Sr., born March 17, 1967, in Lansing, Michigan, to Willie A. Austin, Sr. and Ellawyne Austin, peacefully passed away April 13, 2026, at the age of 59, surrounded by his loving family.
As the sixth of ten children, he was preceded in death by his father, Willie, Sr., and siblings Tamara, Ricky, Donald, and Reggie (who is survived by his wife, Char).
He is survived by his devoted wife of over six years, Anitra; his mother, Ellawyne Austin-Birch; his children, Jeffrey, Jr. and Tiara; his grandchildren, Katilaya, Iyanna, Josiah, Amya, Nayali, and Jahann; his stepchildren, DeMonte’, DaMiaya, and DeMarco; and his siblings Willie, Jr., Victor, Steve (Heather), Derrick (Terri), and Quinn (Sonya).
Jeff maintained strong, meaningful relationships with extended relatives and close friends who supported him throughout his life and will continue to honor his memory.
A proud graduate of Eastern High School, Jeff was an accomplished athlete, excelling in football and track and field. His achievements showcased both his natural talent and drive. Jeff was an integral part of two Eastern High track records that stood from 1985 to 2008 (23 years) in the 4X100 and 4x400 meter relays. He was a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the Los Angeles Raiders, rarely missing a game and always cheering enthusiastically for his teams.
With 22 years of dedicated service at the Coca-Cola Company as a Service Technician, Jeff was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.
A true lover of life, he had a passion for cooking and was an enthusiastic food critic, always eager to explore new restaurants and cuisines. He found joy in bringing people together, particularly through his cherished “Sociable Sundays,” where he would prepare meals, enjoy sports, and share quality time with his brothers, friends, and loved ones.
His love of music included a particular fondness for old school rap, reggae, and jazz, which often set the tone for gatherings and reflected his vibrant personality. His great sense of humor brought laughter and lightheartedness to those around him.
Jeff loved to travel, especially to Virginia Beach, where he found a sense of peace in the ocean and joy in watching sunrises and sunsets. Introduced to this special place by a close friend, his frequent visits created lasting memories tied to friendship and reflection.
Inspired by his father’s passion for auto racing, Jeff developed a love for the sport and an appreciation for fine automobiles. His dream car was the BMW 750Li, symbolizing his refined taste and admiration for craftsmanship.
Though he possessed a commanding presence with his large stature and deep voice, those who knew him best cherished his gentle spirit and caring heart. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Raised on the east side of Lansing, he forged lasting friendships and connections that spanned decades.
While not a formal member of Galilee Baptist Church, Jeff attended regularly with his wife and was warmly embraced by the church family.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend—someone whose presence united people and whose kindness left a lasting impact on all fortunate enough to know him.
Jeff’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
