James Henry Adway, Sr. was born the 6th of 13 children to Earven Sr. and Willie B. Adway on August 25, 1947 In Altheimer, Arkansas.
James accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Altheimer, Arkansas under the leadership of the late Reverend Alvin Terry.
Upon graduating from Martin High School, James attended Arkansas AM & N/The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for a few years before going on to work for nearly 20 years for Chicago Transit Authority. He later relocated to Saginaw, Michigan where he lived for the last 40 years.
James departed this life on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Adway, his parents, his paternal and maternal grandparents, his brother, Earven Adway, Jr. and his stser, Inez Adway.
James leaves to cherish his memory five children, Antonio (Tarmika) Adway, Chicago, Illinois, Laquita Adway-Blount (Finis) Stribling, Nashville, Tennessee, James Adway Jr., Jamal Adway, Shayna Sanders-Adway, all of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Tyler Adway, Ebonni Adway, Finis Stribling IV, Taylor Adway, Kylan Stribling, Tre’ Stribling, Trust Anderson, Jaliyah Adway; ten siblings, Bobbie Freeman, Chicago, Illinois, Loistene Johnson, White Hall, Arkansas, Willie Adway, Altheimer, Arkansas, Robert Sr. (Felicia) Adway, Mary Adway, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Jerlene (Porter) Taylor, Barry Adway, Curtis Adway, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Otis Adway, Altheimer, Arkansas, Rickey Adway, Chicago, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, cousins other dear loved ones and his caregivers, Willie hale, Andre Turner, Tony Adams, Katie Ladd and many friends.
