Helen Jean Weems

Helen Jean Weems passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026. She was 77 years of age. Helen was born on December 2, 1948, in Birdsong, Arkansas, to Carl and Bertha Mae Jones.

At the age of 12, Helen moved with her family to Saginaw, Michigan, where she later graduated from Saginaw High School. In 1967, she married the love of her life, James Weems. Together, they shared 59 years of devotion, companionship, and love, building a strong family foundation and raising their two children, Kenneth Muhammad and Pamela Weems. 

Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Ranisia Bartee, Devonte Weems, Martez (Felisha) Nunley, Sha'na Weems, and Devion (Felicia) Weems. She also leaves behind seven cherished great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride. 

Helen is survived by her devoted husband, James Weems; her children, Kenneth (Coretta) Muhammad and Pamela Weems; her brother, Reginald (Phyllis) Jones; her sister, Madlon (Phillip) Bosquet; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertha Mae Jones; her brothers, Ricky Nash and Jesse Jones; her sisters, Lucille Reynolds, Verna Mae Smith, Lillie Jones, and Mary Thomas; her Aunt Beatrice Jackson; her nieces, Curly Mae Harrison and Laura Reynolds; her nephews, Larry D. Jones, William Reynolds Jr., and Reginald Jones II, and her beloved grandson Devonte Weems.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her nieces Jeanetta Ellis, Barbara Ann Willett, Jamie (Walter) May, and Toni Butterfield, as well as her nephews Kennedy Ray Jones, James Wilson, Michael Wilson, Steven Wilson, and Joel Wilson, the Harrison Family, along with many other nieces and nephews whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.

Helen was known for her generous spirit, loving heart, and unwavering compassion. She was full of life and love, always ready to offer a comforting hug, thoughtful advice, or a listening ear. Her presence brought comfort and encouragement to everyone she met, and her home was a place where family and friends felt welcomed and loved.

Her greatest passion was her faith and her love for Jehovah. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Helen faithfully devoted herself to sharing Bible truths with others through her field ministry. She especially loved participating in field service and was honored to serve as a pioneer for many years. Her dedication, faithfulness, and exemplary conduct set a standard for others and left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She found great joy in helping others draw closer to Jehovah and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life.

Helen also leaves behind many dear friends from her Kingdom Hall family, including the Jennings/Mayo family, Sister Charleston, the McKinley, Maxey, Hunt, Jimenez, and the Webb families, and countless others who were blessed by her friendship, encouragement, and example. Helen Jean Weems lived a rich and meaningful life marked by faith, love, service, and devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
