Havell "Buck" Hinton

March 3, 1954 — August 16, 2025

Flint, Michigan

Mr. Havell "Buck" Hinton, a cherished brother, devoted uncle, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Henry Ford St. John Hospital of Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 71. Buck was truly the heart of his family, known for his ability to bring everyone together and his vibrant spirit that touched all who knew him. He had a deep passion for life, expressed through his thrilling travels to casinos, where he enjoyed the excitement and enjoying spending time with the people he loved. His love for Soulful Blue's music was legendary, often filling his home with soulful melodies, and he was always ready to showcase his smooth dance moves on the floor, bringing joy and laughter to any gathering.

Born on March 3, 1954, in the city of Saginaw, Michigan, Havell was a proud product of his hometown. He graduated from Saginaw High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of purpose and service. Following his high school education, he then bravely answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army, where he dedicated himself with honor and distinction. Later Havell pursued an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement from Delta Community College, demonstrating his early commitment to justice and community safety.

Havell's life was enriched by the love of his family and friends, though he was preceded in death by his father, Robert Byoner; his mother, Fannie Lee Hinton, whose love nurtured him; and his two sisters, Sadie Mae Hines, Nettie Mae Hinton and nephew Derrick Lee Hinton. He also mourned the passing of his special Aunt Lucille Hinton, whose warmth and guidance were a constant presence in his life.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be held in the hearts of those he touched. His loving and dedicated sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Hinton of Saginaw, Michigan, will continue to carry his memory with profound affection. Havell was a beloved uncle to three nieces who adored him: Luereather Alexander of Bay City, Michigan; Sherelle Knight (Karl Sr.) of Locust Grove, Georgia, who will forever cherish their special connection; and Azolarie (Regina) Hinton of Saginaw, Michigan. He also leaves two beloved nephews: Darnell Hinton Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan; and John L Hinton (Maria) of Bay City, Michigan. Beyond his immediate family, Havell is survived by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends, longtime girlfriend Thelma Hill, and family in Ohio and Alabama, all of whom were positively impacted by his presence. Havell will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his unwavering kind spirit, his gentle nature, and the indelible mark he left on every life he encountered. His memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family wishes to express its profound and heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional medical professionals, nurses, and support staff at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc, McLaren Select Hospital of Flint, Omni Continuing Care of Detroit, and Henry Ford St. John Hospital of Detroit.
