It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. George Willie Evans Sr, who peacefully departed this life on March 7th, 2026, at the age of 71.
George was born on February 11, 1955, in Sallis, Mississippi, to his birth mother and father, Reatha Harmon and Willie J Campbell, raised by Percy Bentley. Throughout his life, he was known for being a neighborhood mechanic, a retired truck driver, and passionate about race cars. He was in multiple car shows and worked on building cars in the garage from time to time. He also spent time working at Ricks Auto shop, working on cars, which he loved to do. He was the founder and owner of Country Boyz Auto and Car Wash shop. He was the Leader, Hero, Protector, and Provider of the family who always kept the family together.
He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many. His presence brought comfort, guidance, and laughter to those who knew him. He will always be remembered for his strength, leadership, love, and love for cars that he showed to all those around him.
George is survived by His wife, Ella Jean Simmons Evans; two daughters, Lateria and Latrisha Evans; four sons, George Evans Jr, Rolanda Evans, Kenneth Evans, and Walter Evans; sisters, Betty Mae Wilson, Dianne Witt, and Annie Witt; grandchildren, Nahriah Evans, Amari Evans, Christian Evans, DeAsiah Laury, Artaysia Rhodes, Taylen Rhodes, Krystal Evans, Walter Evans Jr, Kaleb Schultz, Brianna Evans, Teryn Yaklin, Tristian Jurek, Rolanda Evans Jr, Isabella Hebl-Evans, Daymeon Hebl, Alea Evans, Aiden Evans, Deasia West, Knowledge Evans, Shyla Eckart, Addison Eckart, Alivia Evans, Shondra Wilkins and Shlondra Evans; great-grandchildren, Xavion Evans, Aubrey Evans, Rae’lynn Yaklin, and Ariana Schultz; godson, Dawon Jackson; goddaughter, Shatiasha Pierson; his special aunt, Maggie Donald; many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and siblings on his paternal father side. George made many friends throughout his career as a neighborhood mechanic and being a part of car groups. He will also be survived by his family-in-law from his hometown of Sallis, Mississippi.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Reatha Harmon, William J. Campbell, and Percy Bentley; his sister, Ruby Brown; his aunt, Velmatine Evans; his brothers, Francis Evans and Billy Bentley; and his grandson, George Evans III.
Though his passing grieves us, we find comfort and peace in knowing he’s no longer suffering anymore. That his love and legacy will forever continue on. He will always be remembered in our hearts.
