Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Ezell Goodman, age 74, of Lansing, Michigan, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, November 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on Sunday, February 11, 1951, in Somerville, Tennessee, to Mattie B. Powell and Willie E. Towles.

Ezell grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where he attended Carver High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Military Police Officer during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972, continuing afterward in the Army Reserve.

Following his military service, Ezell earned an associate’s degree from the State Technical Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, where he studied to become an electrician and mechanic. In 1977, he began working for General Motors, where he remained a dedicated employee for 31 years until his retirement in 2008.

In 1973, Ezell married his high school sweetheart, Sammiestine (Richardson) Goodman. Together, they shared 52 years of love, partnership, and devotion. Their union was blessed with two children, Kenieth Goodman and Kimisha Goodman.

Ezell was an avid car enthusiast who also loved camping, hunting, and fishing. He was known for his kind heart, strong faith in God, love for family, and generous spirit. He enjoyed watching military movies, eating good food, and spending quality time with loved ones.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Sami Goodman; children, Kenny and Kimisha Goodman; grandchildren, Tempest Goodman-Stephens, Kenieth Goodman-Woods, Anthony Goodman, Tyreisha Hargrow, Kavone Goodman, Derrick Reece Jr., Karter Reece, and Ashton Reece; and 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Chester Wilkerson, Johnnie Powell, Vella Powell, and Charlie Powell (Stacey); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie B. Powell and Willie E. Towles; brothers, Marvin Goodman and Roy Powell; and sister, Sharon Carson.

Mr. Ezell Goodman passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 74 years.
