Ms. Eula Mae Hatter, lovingly known by her family and friends as a caring and devoted woman of faith. Peacefully transitioned this life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, on Mother’s Day at the age of 88. Eula Mae was born on February 14, 1938, in Cotton Port, Louisiana, to Oscar and Gertrude Johnson.

Eula lived a life filled with love, compassion, determination, strength, and dedication to her faith in God. She was a proud and faithful member of the South 17th St. Church of Christ. For decades, Eula remained active under the guidance of her brother, Cedric Townsel, whom she held dear to her heart. She shared more than 50 years of a relationship and marriage with her beloved husband, Ernest James Hatter Sr.

Eula Mae was a devoted mother who cherished her children deeply. She leaves behind eight beloved children, Phyllis (William) Whittaker of Saginaw Michigan, Alice (Marconius) Williams of Houston, Texas, Reginald Gray of Saginaw, Michigan, Sandra (Joseph) Lebrane of Houston, Texas, Ernest Jr. (Kathy) Hatter, Orlando, Florida, Deborah (Laleanera) Brown of Houston, Texas, Margaret (Bryon) Curry of San Antonio, Texas, and Edrick Hatter of Saginaw, Michigan. She also leaves to cherish in her memory her twin brothers, Collin Johnson and Rollin (Shelia) Johnson, both of Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers-in-law, Ahmad Hassan, Steve Hatter, and Frankie Lee (Pearl) Hatter of Saginaw, Michigan; and one sister-in-law, Ida M. Hatter of Atlanta, Georgia.

Eula Mae was blessed with twenty-six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren; a loving family legacy spanning five generations, and a special friend, Ms. Clarene Colman.

Eula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest James Hatter Sr.; parents, Oscar and Gertrude Johnson; three sisters, Mammie Jones, Betty Hassan, Margaret Johnson; five brothers, Carrinton, Oscar, Jr, Albert, Austin, Earl Johnson; one sister-in-law, Agatha Johnson, and one very special son-in-law, Laleanera Neal Brown.

Eula will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering faith, and loving spirit that touched all who knew her.
