Ms. Emma Jean Haines gained her wings on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 73 years. She was born February 9, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Annie L. and Christopher C. Stidhum.

Emma was raised in Saginaw and was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1970. She was a member of Resurrection Life Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Carolyn Wilkins. Emma retired from the City of Saginaw after 20+ years of service. She was very particular about her words, loved to dance, crochet, sew, and listen to all genres of music.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Shelia R. Stidhum, Valarie R. (James) Powell, Ketrina R. Haines; one son, Reverend Cory (Chirila) Hamilton; six stepchildren, James Liggins, Texas, Kamil Braddock, South Carolina, Trudy McLeod, Florida, Khadajia Choyce, Indiana, Shalita Vinings and Jimenece Thompson, Saginaw, Michigan; she will be missed by her grandchildren, Shemeka D. Stidhum, Shedana N. Stidhum, and Jazmine V. Powell; great-grandchildren, Akeria, JaMarcus, Deviana, Devon, Jasmin, Lyric, Hope, Desyia, and Ramson Jr.; one great-great-grandchild, Ja’Sale; five sisters, Annie Goodwine, Barbara Hoskins, Millie (Lamont) Gatson, Debra Clark, Carolyn (Anthony) Baber; one brother, Charles (Linda) Stidhum; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her longtime companion, William Turner, and special friends, Barbara (Norris) Brown, Debby McGuire-Keele, and Billy Ray Jones.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher C. and Annie L. Stidhum; brother, Clinter Roy (Dorothy) Cooper; son-in-law, LaSalle Lawton; grandson, James Junior Powell II; brother-in-law, Daniel Goodwine, and former husband, James L. Haines.

The family would like to express special thanks to Cancer & Hematology Center, Select Specialty Hospital, and Covenant Cancer Center; an extra special thank you to her granddaughter, LaKeysha Powell.
