Elsie Paulette Guy passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 75 years. She was born on July 11, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan. The daughter of Aldine and Albertine Guy.
Elsie spent her childhood in Lansing, with frequents visits to her father’s hometown, Mecosta, Michigan. She graduated from Sexton High School and attended Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. Elsie retired from the Social Security Administration after decades of service. Prior to her administrative career, she worked in the private sector for Congressman Bob Carr, of Michigan’s 6th congressional district. Elsie’s favorite pastime was spending time with her loved ones, offering mentorship and guidance. She also enjoyed puzzles, games, and soul music.
Elsie leaves to cherish her memory, children, Pauline “Tony” Noland, Jonathan Guy, and Frederick (Emily) Guy; grandchildren, Darrius Guy and Destiny Guy both of Lansing, Michigan, Kyra Guy and Jordan Guy both of Chesterfield, Michigan; brother, Charles “Butch” (Stephanie) Guy; sisters-in-law, Mae Tanner and Earsella Guy; nieces, Monique (Clarence) Tanner Brown, Sherron Johnson, Theisa (John) Tanner Simmons, Angela Guy, and Juanita Mitchell; nephews, Horace Tanner, Charles (Brandy) Guy II, Jerry Mitchell, and Shawn Lewis; and many other family members.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Aldine and Albertine Guy; grandparents, Bertha and Charlie Davis; brother, Frederick Douglass Tanner; sister. Juanita Mitchell; aunts, Marybelle Guy and Lola Ross; uncles, Eugene Guy and Bill Ross; and many cousins.
The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who gave their condolences at this time.
