Mr. Edward Goldman was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 20, 1957, to the late Minnie Bell Sampson and Alex Goldman.
Edward attended McNeal Elementary and Canton Public High School in Canton, Mississippi. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Army and later served faithfully in the Michigan National Guard for 25 years before retiring.
He was employed with the Michigan Department of Corrections, where he worked for over 20 years until retiring due to health concerns.
Edward was a devoted member of the Spiritual Israel Church and its Army for over 40 years, where he later became a minister. He loved his church deeply. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking- especially his famous sour cream pound cakes which will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Above all, Edward truly loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Minnie Pell and Alex Goldman; his son, Adrian D. White; five brothers, R.C., Leon, Jerry, Earl, and Clifford Goldman; and one sister, Regin Slaughter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter Detrius (Leadres) Brown; four sisters, Barbara McNeal of Chicago, Illinois, Gloria Tucker of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Diane Nichols of Michigan City, Indiana and Deborah Goldman of Covington, Georgia; two brothers, Eddie (JoAnn) Goldman of Phoenix, Arizona and Odell (Gloria) Goldman of Lansing, Michigan.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Adriana (Elisha) Woods, Dalemonie Carter, Chriserlia Mosley, Jody Mosley, Javon Brown, and Leadres Brown Tyreek; two great grandchildren, A’naiya Woods and Zai’Mylah Carter; his special daughter-in-law, Lanina Wright, and host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Edward's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family will live on in all who knew him.
