Eddie Darnell Reese was born December 19, 1967, in Gary, Indiana. The son of Edna Walker and Tyrone Reese. He was raised around many family members and friends. Eddie passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 58 years old. Leaving behind lasting memories.
He was the father of five children and worked hard to make sure his family was well set. Later on in life, he moved to Lansing, Michigan, and became a husband. He then became a grandfather and great-grandfather who truly loved to be around his grandchildren. He always continued to work hard to provide for his family.
During his time in Gary, Eddie went to Kings Highway Deliverance Church and graduated from Horace Mann High School. In Lansing, he worked at Meijer Warehouse, but in his downtime, he went fishing, played pool, listened to music, and watched sports. He was a "News Buff," so you could often find him watching MSNBC. Eddie was loving, dedicated, strong, and outspoken. And anyone who spent time around him knows that he was hilarious.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory wife, Ruth Reese; 5 children, Le'Keisha Simmons, Tekela Simmons, Natassia (Darryl) Cook, Eddie "Lil' Eddie" (Deanna) Reese Jr., Joe-Lee (Juanita) Reese; 15 grandchildren, Amir Abdel-Khaliq, Sa’Miyah Abdel-Khaliq, A’Layah Abdel-Khaliq, Kamrin Ammons, Ka’Miyah Ammons, Tywann Cook, Jordan Cook, Amara Cook, Terica Woods, Semaj Wilson, Jayla Reese, Eddie Reese III, Joe-Lee Reese Jr, Neveah Reese, and Jaedyn Reese; 2 great grandchildren, Deandre Allen Jr., and Tiana Allen; sisters, Pamela (Patrick) Nnanabu, Cynthia Johnson, and Sabrina Bond (cousin, but more like a sister); brothers, Ronie (Stephanie) Reese, Bernard Reese, Tyrone Reese, and Anthony Bond (another cousin that was more like a sibling); nieces, Monesha Cormier (who shared a special bond with her uncle), Ijeoma Ezeigwe, Dieasha Reese, Damisha Brown, Ronique Reese, Tatiana Dumas, Summer Reese, and Sha’Tarayae McKinley; nephews, Ricky Royal, Ike Nnanabu, Uche Nnanabu, Davontray Clark, Davion Clark, Kyrie Reese, Jamie Reese, and Dontay Reese; aunts, special Aunt Patricia Taylor, Marrietta Blissett, Linda Rivera, and Joann Reese; uncle, Van Taylor; many cousins; mother-in-law, Irene Jones; 4 sisters-in-law; and 3 brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Walker and Tyrone Reese; brother, JoeLee Jones; uncles, Maurice McKinney and L.D. Passmore.
The family would like to express special thanks to all of their friends and family who have been there for them during this time.
