Derrick Faniel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Derrick Faniel, who departed this life on September 18, 2025, at the age of 50. Derrick was born on March 3, 1975, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Dartha Faniel and Robert E. Threets.

Derrick accepted Christ at an early age at St. Abraham Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. Later in life, he moved to Saginaw, Michigan, and graduated from OIC. Derrick cherished his family and friends. Everyone who knew him will remember his kindness and warmth.

Derrick is survived by five children: Tyanada Woods, Saginaw, Michigan, Oni (Guanren) Lu, Arizona, DaNeya, Saginaw, Michigan, Derrick Faniel Jr., and DeyVeone Faniel, Saginaw, Michigan, grandchildren: Ila, Onterrya, and Siyora, Saginaw, Michigan; parents, Dartha Faniel and Robert E. Threets; sister, Lakita McDougle, Murrieta, California: brothers Markee (Erica) Jones, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Varick and Desmond Williams, Shreveport, Louisiana, many other relatives and friends including special cousins, Sherrandra, Quanta, Shon, and Corey Faniel, Saginaw, Michigan, and Demetrius Pleasant, North Carolina.

Derrick will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
