Deborah Smith

Deborah Lynn Smith, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on May 17, 1959, Deborah was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She lived a life marked by compassion, service, and quiet strength.

Deborah dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She worked at Mid-Michigan Child Care and later at Southbridge Group Home, where she provided support and care for individuals with disabilities. Her faith kept her grounded, and she was a member of New Life Baptist Church for more than 15 years.

Debbie was known for her vibrant personality. She had a great sense of humor and a laugh that could fill a room. She loved to cook and enjoyed gathering with family and friends over a good meal. She found joy in interior decorating and listening to music, especially Bruno Mars.

Family was at the center of Debbie’s life. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Antrovel (LaTina) Smith and Shekinah Smith; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Jaida (Christiansburg, VA), Tunisia, Antrovel Jr., Tavion, and Wynter, all of Saginaw. She was deeply proud of each of them and found great joy in their lives and accomplishments. She is survived by her nephews, Cambreon “Mike” Perkins (Athens, GA) and Thomas Jerome Graham II (Midland); her niece, Crasha (Lewis) Townsend (Christiansburg, VA); and special friends Todd Harris and Robin Paul.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Vera Glass Smith and Louis Smith; sisters, Patricia Graham and Iris Perkins; brother-in-law, Thomas Jerome Graham; great-niece, Grace and her beloved cousin, Vada Weston, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

Deborah was a steady presence, someone who showed up with quiet love and support. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
