David Lewis Lloyd peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 5:20 p.m. at the age of 80 years old at the Veteran Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was surrounded by loved ones worshipping and praising God. He was born on Monday, February 5, 1945, in Brewton, Alabama. The son of Cleo and Fannie Lloyd.
David came to Lansing, Michigan at an early age. He was employed at The Coca-Cola Company, State of Michigan, and Motor Wheel Corporation. David volunteered for over 15 years at Ingham Regional Medical Center, now McLaren Greater Lansing. He was recognized as volunteer of the year for his outstanding service and commitment.
David, a Vietnam Veteran served in the United States Army from Thursday, October 7, 1965, until he was honorably discharged on Sunday, July 9, 1967. He remained in the Army Reserve until Wednesday, October 6, 1971.
David was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for years and later joined Abundant Grace Faith Church, and Lansing Christian Center Church to fellowship with his sisters and brothers.
David loved the Lord, his family, and friends. He was a kind and generous person and valued fellowshipping with people. David was an avid traveler and reader, and even published a book entitled, “Never Too Late”. David cherished and enjoyed life. He was a member of the YMCA for many years and faithfully exercised. He loved praying, studying, and reading the Bible.
He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, Eddie L. (Mayla) Lloyd of Lansing, Michigan, and Gregory L. Lloyd of Tucson, Arizona; sisters, Barbara L. (Johnny) Smith and Lillian J. Peterson both of Lansing, Michigan and Betty M. Lloyd of Gilbert, Arizona; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends including special lifelong friends, Peggy Wells, Loleta Towner, and his ex-wife, Colleen Lloyd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McKinley Lloyd; parents, Cleo and Fannie Lloyd; brother, Cleo Lloyd, Jr.; and niece, Jamelah Davis.
