Darrin Mugashe

On May 20, 2002, in Lansing, Michigan a precious baby boy was born. The Child & Family Services contacted Levon Mugashe to let her know they needed her help with fostering this baby. When she arrived at the hospital and laid eyes on him, she said, “oh my gosh, he is so beautiful!” and named him Darrin Lee Mugashe. Levon brought him home when he was 5 days old. His brothers, Devin and DeVonte were excited to have a new baby brother.

When his mother and family looked at him, they seldom saw what he couldn’t do, they saw the many things he could do. He could express his love with a look, with a smile, with a squeeze (wow, he was strong). Darrin could even express love by showing who he felt comfortable enough to fall asleep around. This showed that he trusted he would be cared for, with whomever he was around at the time.

Darrin loved going to school, he attended Beekman Center where he will be a graduate of the Class of 2025. He also enjoyed visiting his aunties houses, going to the park, mall, and attending church. Darrin found joy and entertainment with his light up toys, shakers, and most of all he loved watching the show Spongebob Squarepants.

Darrin showed his inner strength, as he continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would crush many of us. He showed us what it is to be strong. In this way, he was a hero just like his mom who also kept going. Day after day, through the best times and even through the hardest of times.

Darrin was the sweetest and most loving young man, he loved his brothers Devin and DeVonte, his family, friends and most of all his mother, Levon. Darrin exchanged time for eternity on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He went peacefully laying next to his mother to whom he felt safe.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Mr/Mrs. Ulee & Georgia Taylor, uncles Leon, Ulee, Darren, and Jessie Taylor; aunts Stella DeShazer and WillieMae Hinton; and God brother De”Marius Pruitt.

His wonderful life will be forever cherished and remembered by his loving mother, Levon Mugashe; his brothers, Devin & DeVonte Mugashe and Khareem Slaton; aunts, Bettye (Lionel) Gibbs, Sherly Henton, Williemenna Clay, Teressia Abbas; uncles, Martez Lee. A host of family, friends, teachers, and doctors. Darrin’s life might seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He will be missed by all who loved him. #FOREVER23
