Darrell Leon Evans Sr., passed away October 30, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 63 years. He was born on October 13, 1962, the son of the late Harrison and Annie Mae Evans.
He completed his education within the Gary School system and graduated from William A. Wirt.
Darrell had a deep passion for electronics—whether it was TVs, watches, or cars—and loved taking cross-country drives. He was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews, who affectionately called him Uncle Doug, Uncle “D,” and, of course, Speedy Racer.
Darrell Evans committed his life to Christ during a revival led by Apostle Eddie Wilson. Shortly afterwards, he became a member of King’s Highway Deliverance Church under the guidance of Elder Michael Butler. Upon moving to Lansing, Michigan Elder Evans served diligently for two decades under Elder Samuel Jones, during which he was ordained as an Elder of Holy Praise C.O.G.I.C. In subsequent years, he reaffirmed his membership at King’s Highway Deliverance Church before relocating to Buffalo, New York, where he served under Pastor Woods, a close associate of Elder Evans. Elder Evans responded to the call of God by returning to Lansing, Michigan, where he assumed the role of Pastor at King’s Highway Deliverance Church International, Lansing Branch. Elder Darrell Evans served both locally and globally; Elder Darrell Evans participated in the first mission trip with Bishop Butler and Evangelist Mekeda Henderson to Punjab, Pakistan, where he prayed and laid hands on the people throughout the night until a breakthrough occurred. Elder Evans continued to Pastor King’s Highway Lansing Branch until 2022.
During his lifetime, Darrell was blessed with three sons: Darrell II, Kenneth, and Jamal, as well as two sons-in-love and one ingrafted daughter, Nikki.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Marilyn Jackson. Darrell’s loving spirit will continue to be remembered by his sisters: Thelma Barnes, Rosemary (Bishop Michael) Butler, Elnora (Michael) Scott, Darlene (Brian) Velez, and JoAnne (Elder Robert) Evans. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond (Jennifer) Evans and Albert (LouKecia) Evans, and his son, Jamaal (Latora) Reggans, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that will forever love Darrell Evans Sr. Love you Uncle “D” my favorite uncle!!!!
Darrell Evans Sr. was preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth Reggans and Darrell Evans II; beloved parents, Harrison and Annie Mae Evans; sister, Legretta Williams; as well as his brothers, Harrison Evans Jr., Willie James Evans, and Earl Evans.
