Constance Cotton

Constance “Connie” Cotton of Lansing, Michigan, was a proud graduate of Sexton High School. She continued her education at Davenport College and Lansing Community College. Connie dedicated much of her career to serving others, working with the Lansing School District, Dr. Tucker’s Sports and Psychological Consultant Services, and most recently at Peckham, where she was employed until April 2025.

Family was everything to Connie. She cherished every moment spent with her children (whom she was very protective over), grandchildren, brother, sister, her beloved “sister cousins” and close friends. One of her greatest joys was bonding daily with her father—a connection she held dear.

Connie’s faith was a quiet strength throughout her life. She found peace in prayer and was uplifted by her mother’s everlasting words: “Take it to the Lord in prayer.”

She had a gift for making people feel seen and loved. Whether it was sharing a laugh, dancing to old-school tunes, or offering a warm hug, Connie left a lasting impression. Known for her calm and easygoing spirit. She loved watching Lifetime movies, and embraced all kinds of music—from the soulful “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” to the timeless rhythm of “Regulate.”

“To know her was to love her.” Her legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, Shatele Richardson, LaToya Richardson, and Marius Richardson; grandchildren, Kevin Price, Jr., Skai Ethridge, and Mariana Richardson; father, Curtis Cotton; sister, Marcella Cotton; brother, Anthony Cotton; nieces, LaMia Cotton, Mercedes Cotton, Desiree Foy, and Darielle Draper; nephews, Nankiem Cotton and Adonis Cotton; aunts, Barbara (Lonzo) Greenwood, Josephine Lewis, Sandra Cotton, and Mary Ann Johnson; great aunt, Martha Williams; uncles, Rickey (Marie) Cotton, Stanley Cotton, Donnie (Linda) Cotton, Houston Wilson, Phinis Jones, and Bruce Cotton; many cousins, including special cousins, Teresa Williams and Tina Anderson; and special friends, Kisha Beard and Yuvet White.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Bessie Cotton; grandfather, Nelson King; and additional family members, including cousins.

The family would like to express special thanks to all of the people who called, texted, visited, and especially the army of support over the last few days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to Ms. Constance's children.
